Oktoberfest Details

Friday, 26 September:

What: Registration begins at 17:00 at some Bavarian-ish restaurant near the city center.  Your first of three r*ns will start here.  Afterwards, there'll be a traditional Munich Hash circle (i.e. it'll be lengthy) followed by a meal, drinking, dancing (maybe), hooking up (hopefully) and then curling up into a ball to rest up for ...

Saturday, 27 September:

What: Hash r*n in the lovely Bavarian countryside, lunch, circle, then back to the city for the Oktoberfest. Tables reserved in Armbrustschützenzelt.  Note that this year, we're including a registration option sans tent.  If there are a significant number of hashers who aren't going to the tent, we may try to organize some alternate activity.  (Note the key words "may" and "try".)

Sunday, 28 September:

What: R*n/walk/stagger through Munich, food, drink and circle.  We are currently trying to pressgang a local Munich hasher to lead a group back to the Wies'n.  In years past, there has always been a group that heads back to the fest and they always seem to get into a tent.  So, if Saturday wasn't enough, you can head back on Sunday.  Please note that a Sunday visit is NOT included in the price of registration.

General Information:

What your registration fee includes (or, who pays for what):

Friday night:  Dinner in a fine Bavarian restaurant complete with beer (we buy some kegs, once those are gone it's a cash bar).

Saturday afternoon: Tasty lunch after the run.

Saturday night:  Admission to the tent includes 2 LITERS of Munich's finest beer, and one voucher for a dinner entree, good for 1/2 of a roasted chicken or the eqivalent.

Sunday afternoon:  Another tasty lunch.

A good deal for EUR85?  We think so, and don't forget endless beer in the circles and the fabulous goodie bags stuffed with, um, goodies!

Accommodation: Note that the price for the weekend does not include accommodation (it couldn't possibly).  Local hashers can offer a LIMITED amount of crash space, but there is no guarantee that we can match supply with demand.  If you don't know where to stay, start th*nking about it now and in the meantime check out this page:  Oktoberfest crash space.

Getting around in Munich:  If arriving or leaving via the airport on Friday and/or Sunday, you should buy yourself a day pass (or Partnercard) for the entire net (Gesamtnetz). This will allow you to travel to and from the airport and anywhere within Munich.

If you're arriving or leaving via the Hauptbahnhof on Friday and/or Sunday, you should buy a day pass for only the Innenraum.

On Saturday, we'll all be buying day passes to schlepp out to the r*n.

Partnercards (for the day) can be used for up to five people. Make a friend and travel cheaper!

The pricing scheme of the Munich transport system is baffling. If you're confused (we usually are), call or e-mail a local hasher, or look at the MVV website.
